It was a momentous occasion when KDA offered its Crime Orientation Reaction and Evasion (CORE) Self Defense Program last May 13 and 15 to employees of BAYANTEL’s Customer Care Division. More than fifty (50) interested employees signed up for the two day course which included Karate-based Security Awareness, Reaction and Self Defense techniques specifically designed for call center agents.

Participants were placed through the rigors of awareness drills, learning about criminal modus operandi and how they think, as well as Karate Goshin Jutsu (Self Defense Techniques) to escape immanent attack. Most of the drills emphasized mental concepts such as Mushin and Zanshin, as well as attacking Kappo (Vital Points) with full force.

Cindy Nahil, Program Director, was enthusiastic about the result as well as the large turn out. She said that the participants greatly appreciated the ease of instructions as well as the practicality of the techniques presented. She relayed that there were already interested parties willing to learn on a more regular basis.

The seminar was an initial offering to see if the employees of BAYANTEL would be interested in availing of our regular program and ventured that they would open the classes to the employees’ relatives, spouses and dependents.

KDA is currently negotiating a tie up with BAYANTEL to promote KDA Programs through out its sixteen (16) strategically located centers around Metro Manila as a program for its subscribers. With BAYANTEL’s extensive coverage in the Metro, KDA aims to further its advocacy in promoting Karatedo and its many benefits to the Filipinos.

Current President Elect Tanya Gabe herself was enthusiastic about this rare opportunity.  “It’s companies like BAYANTEL that helps organizations like ours (KDA) with our cause. They understand the importance and effects of Karate even though they only experienced a part of it (the self-defense aspect). We are grateful that BAYANTEL has helped us take a huge step forward in reaching out to the community.” said Ms. Gabe.

BAYANTEL represents an initial entry into a new market segment of Call Center agents interested in the benefits of self-defense, fitness and healthy lifestyle as well as stress relief and productivity that Karate has been proven to benefit its practitioners.

KDA’s CORE Self Defense Program currently offers regular classes at Footworx, Sta. Lucia, Rizal.  It also offers seminars and workshops tailored to the audience.  For more information, please contact Alvin Carbonel at 0917-2410631.
