1st Karate Essay Writing Contest PDF Print E-mail

KDA is inviting all their students to share their experience with Karate through an essay writing contest for this year’s Black and White Party on December 6, 2008.  Topics for the essay could range from the writer’s impression of Karate, How karate affected their life, Practical application of Karate in their daily routines, History of Karate, Health benefits, etc.).

The winning essays for the two categories will be printed at the 2nd Okazaki Cup souvenir program.  Winner will receive Php500.00 for each category. The categories are as follows:

Category A - 12 yrs old & below
Category B - 13 yrs old & above
Contest Mechanics:
  1. This contest is open to all KDA students only.
  2. Only one entry per participant is accepted.
  3. Entries should be in English, encoded, double-spaced. It should be saved in a MS Word document file.
  4. Participant must include the following details when submitting the entry:
    Complete name
    KDA Club
    Age
    Contact number(s)
  5. Number of words (excluding the title) should be between 300 and 400.
  6. Submit your entry on or before November 22, 2008 to .
Criteria for judging:
Content (relevance of topic, accuracy of data) – 35%
Organization (unity of thought, flow of discussion) – 35 %
Style (Originality, creativity) – 20%
Mechanics (grammar, punctuation) – 10%

Awarding of winners will be at the Black and White Party, December 6, 2008 at Xavier School.
